Aakash 2, a cheap import from China?

Nov 25, 2012: If reports are to be believed, Aakash 2 is said to be a cheap import from China. The tablet which was released and publicised as the world’s cheapest tablet on November 11, may be A13 model designed by a Chinese firm AllWinner Tech with some added applications from IIT Bombay. According to a document which is with ET, 12000 of such devices were procured by Datawind just weeks before the launch date. These devices which costed about Rs. 2310 were sold to government of India at Rs. 2263 each.
